When Purpose Unites Us: The Power of Community, Life Skills, and Collaboration

As the final week of this powerful, weeks-long journey came to a close, one simple truth stood out above all else: when visionaries lead with purpose and communities unite behind them, real, tangible change happens.

Week 20, hosted and led by the incredible U.N.T.A.M.E.D  in collaboration with AOS [Assembly of Saints], was a vibrant display of what true, dedicated community engagement looks like in motion. For 20 weeks straight, these two organizations have poured their energy, time, and hearts into youth, families, and the wider community-teaching, nourishing, uplifting, and guiding. This final gathering was nothing short of inspiring.

PILLAR Inc kids were profoundly honored to stand alongside them as participants. We were able to bring our Somali youth to experience, learn, and grow within a space built on compassion, unity, and empowerment.

From the very start, the energy was electric. People came from all walks of life-elders, parents, teens, and children-everyone bringing something unique to the table. The food flowed in abundance, filling the air with warmth, while laughter echoed across the room. Hearts were full.

It was more than just a meal; it was community at its very best. People working together, serving together, eating together, and simply being together for a higher purpose.

Untamed and AOS Assembly of Saints created that space, modeling the kind of grassroots leadership that’s rooted in service. They showed that when leaders lead with humility, the entire community rises with them. This is the #CommunityUnity we champion.

One of the most remarkable highlights of this final week was the hands-on automotive skills session. Youth learned how to change oil and tires simple yet transformative #LifeSkillsTraining that they will carry for years to come.

This demonstration, organized through Untamed and AOS, was more than just a practical workshop-it was #YouthEmpowerment in motion. Young people, from seven to seventeen, stepped forward with courage and curiosity. They rolled up their sleeves, got under the hood, and learned by doing. In those moments, you could see confidence blooming-the kind that comes from realizing, “I can do this myself.”

We are so grateful to the demonstrator and both Untamed and AOS for creating such a powerful opportunity for our youth to gain tangible skills that will one day save them time, money, and stress.

This closing week was not just an event; it was the culmination of months of consistent dedication, vision, and service by Untamed and Assembly of Saints. Their commitment has built something that ripples far beyond these few gatherings, creating a true, lasting legacy.

Through their work, they’ve shown what it means to serve with integrity and to deeply believe in the potential of every young person.

PILLAR Inc. is deeply grateful to have witnessed and supported that work- especially by bringing #SomaliYouth into this environment of learning, love, and community. Watching our youth engage, connect, and learn from such a diverse and empowering space was a vivid reminder of why #NonprofitCollaboration matters.

Because when organizations unite, when communities cross cultural lines to stand side by side, and when service is the goal-everybody wins.

To Untamed and AOS (Assembly of Saints)-thank you for your leadership, your service, and your unwavering vision. You have modeled what it looks like to build, not just programs, but people.
